The Hancock Trails Club

The mission of the Hancock Trails Club (HTC) is to promote the silent sports for both youth and adults and to provide stewardship of the Maasto Hiihto and Churning Rapids trails in Hancock, Michigan.

In Finnish, maasto hiihto means “cross-country ski.” The trail was originally developed in the 1980s by a group of Nordic enthusiasts with support from the City of Hancock. In 1997, the forerunner of the Hancock Trails Club, the Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club, became official when it gained nonprofit, 501(c)(3) status.

Today, the partnership of the HTC, the City of Hancock, and generous landowners remains integral in maintaining the trails throughout the year for a variety of silent sports.
